Dear Parents,
I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work with your children this year in fifth grade! I know most of you from last year and am so excited to add 8 more families to our classroom! It will be a fabulous year with lots of wonderful learning and fun! We have many things planned, including our fabulous trip to Sky Ranch in February. Make plans to come with us Feb. 15th-17th! It's one of the best field trips your children will go on. They look forward to this and never forget it! I am ecstatic that I get to do this with my kiddos and families!
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Melanie Farrell. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Keith Farrell, and we have been married for 26 years. We were both born and raised in a small town in southern Oklahoma and still love our Sooners! (Boomer!) We also love riding our motorcycle and traveling. Our daughter, Alexis, is 22 years old and is in her first year of law school at Notre Dame University. (Go Irish!) Hopefully, we will get to visit some throughout the year and make our first Notre Dame football game. Our son, Samuel, is 16 and got his driver’s license this summer. Yikes! He is a junior at Rowlett High School this year. He plays French horn and is Junior Drum Major for the Mighty Eagle Band. We are very excited for marching season and the opportunity to see the MEB under those Friday night lights, or sometimes Thursday night lights, again soon!
I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Early Childhood from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I also graduated from Texas A&M Commerce in Dec. 2014 with my Masters in Educational Leadership. I love teaching and seeing the joy on my children's faces as they are learning. We love to have fun while we learn in this classroom! Teaching truly is my passion in this life, and I am blessed and honored to be your child's teacher. This is my 20th year in teaching and my fourth year at this wonderful school! We have the best parents and staff here at Liberty Grove! I love coming to work each day! I hope to see many of you here throughout the year volunteering with us in our classroom!
Throughout this year, I want you to know that I will always have your children's best interest in mind in all that we do. I treat my students the way I would want teachers to treat my children. We will become a learning family while I have your kiddos and look forward to making them mine as well. Please contact me if you ever have concerns or questions. I will do my very best to help however I can. We are a team, and as long as we work together, your children will become more and more successful! Thank you for sharing your children with me this year!
Sincerely,
Melanie Farrell
